How to Use the Instant Pot To Hard Boil Eggs
Plug in the Instant Pot.
Place the steamer basket into the Instant Pot. Add 1 cup of water.
Add the eggs to the steamer basket. They can touch. I find that 10-12 is the max amount I can fit in my instant pot (and also about how many we get through before going bad).
Set the time for 5 minutes for pressure cook.
Listen for the beep telling you that the Instant Pot is up to pressure so you know you have about 10 minutes until you need to open the lid.
After the 5 minutes of pressure cooking, keep watch or set your timer for 5 minutes for a natural release.
Prepare a bowl of cold water with ice cubes in it (an ice bath).
When that 5 minutes of natural release is over, turn the valve and let the rest of the steam release. Make sure to turn the steam vent away from you or throw a towel on top to catch steam.
Open the lid when the pin drops.
Use a pair of tongs to take out the hot eggs and place them into the ice bath. Set your timer for 5 minutes again. Take the eggs out of the water bath at the end of the five minutes and let dry on a towel.
Use the eggs or place into the refrigerator when dry.
How to Store Hard Boiled Eggs
If you choose to peel the eggs right away, place them in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
If you leave them peeled, you can place them back in the egg carton and they should keep for at least a week.
