Have you found the amazing resource of podcasts that are available to you?

I must say that I was a little late to the game with podcasts, but I am so glad that I found this amazing resource on my cell phone. I listen mostly while driving, doing dishes, or getting ready in the morning.

My Favorite Homesteading, Gardening, and Natural Living, Podcasts as of 2019

As I said, I think I might be a little late to the podcast bandwagon. But as I have been searching for the best of the best in these categories, I have found that there are new podcasts popping up all the time.

Podcasts seem to be the way to go these days. Many bloggers are adding podcasts to their blogs and/or their YouTube channels. Others are just starting podcasts as their first step to sharing their knowledge.

Either way, podcasts have been a great way for me to learn SO MUCH!! And that’s why I started this blog – to share what I am learning during this time of waiting for our future homestead. I am already feeling more prepared just from listening to the podcasts on the list below.

Why Not just watch YouTube?

While I love watching Youtube videos from some of my favorite homestead bloggers and vloggers – you can check out my list of favorites here, I have found podcasts to be much more accessible to me. Because there are always so many things going on around here (ie interrupting children mostly), it can be hard to get many videos watched.

I’ve tried playing my faves from YouTube in the car, but that’s not such a great idea. Because it’s always so tempting to look at what they are talking about, I tend to watch while I’m supposed to be driving. Yikes! Yeah, not such a good idea.

So if you too have had this problem, maybe podcasts are for you also.

With podcasts, I can listen more easily no matter what is going on around me.

Below I have compiled a list of my favorite podcasts both from homesteaders, farmers, gardeners, and natural living enthusiasts.

Top 6 Homesteading, Gardening, and Natural Living Podcasts

  1. Pioneering Today with Melissa K Norris
I learn so much from Melissa’s podcast. Pretty much anything you want to know about homesteading, she has done a podcast on it. She also has a full blog post that goes along with each podcast, so you can easily go back and look at what she talked about. I have learned a lot recently on canning, gardening, and all kinds of safe food preservation.

  2. The Positively Green Podcast
When I first started looking for ways to understand my hormonal imbalance and acne/mood swings that was going along with that, I found both Becca at Organically Becca and Kelsey at Green Willow Homestead. Becca has an amazing website for natural solutions to everyday products and how to live sustainally, while Kelsey is a farmer with a website centered around farming, chickens, and sustainability. I was so excited when I found that these ladies do a podcast together. I love listening and learning from them about all things holistic beauty and self care mostly.

  3. Old Fashioned on Purpose with Jill Winger
When I was in the middle of writing this blog post, Jill Winger from the Prairie Homestead came out with a podcast! Of course I checked it out. I have been a long time fan on her blog, The Prairie Homestead, and more recently her Youtube channel. I am just as pleased with her podcast. You can look forward to her tips on modern-day homesteading. Things such as canning, homestead animals, and from-scratch cooking. She is easy to listen to and very knowledgeable.

  4. Mother Earth News and Friends
If you have picked up the magazine Mother Earth News and loved it as much as I do, you are going to also enjoy their podcasts. Each podcast has a special guest on to talk about their area of expertise. Expect anything that the magazine covers – homestead animals, sustainability, medicinal plants, gardening, bees, fermenting, traditional crafts, living off grid, natural health, and so much more.

  5. The Beginner’s Garden
Oh my goodness! I am so glad that I found Jill from The Beginner’s Garden. Also, Journey with Jill in the Garden on YouTube. She is new to me as I found her podcast when I was browsing for more gardening podcasts. She has so many great blog posts, videos, and podcasts on everything garden. Her complete how-to podcasts are so helpful and exactly what I need as I expand my gardening knowledge in varieties of plants I have never grown before. I have a feeling that I am going to be binge listening (and watching over on YouTube) her channel over the next few months. I am so excited to listen to her “Growing Okra No Matter Where You Live” video. And also “Organic Aphid Control” (man those little buggers really get me!)

  6. The Rural Woman Podcast
The Rural Woman Podcast is run by Katelyn Duban of Wildrose Farmer. Katelyn is the host each week to a new woman in ranching, farming, homesteading, or agriculture. Each podcast is unique to the woman that is interviewed that week. If you are a woman in any of those areas, this collection of stories will be a great inspiration for you in what you are doing.

  1. I am always looking for a good podcast! I listen to them as I work around the house. It soothes my soul. (and yes, those loving yet pesky kiddos (5 over here) are always interrupting!). I’m going to check these out! I need some new material for my ears.
